— About the project
A small, hand-kept index — the kind of guide that used to sit on a shelf.
Vitalityspiral is a directory of independent places and a companion library of downloadable notes. It is run by people who use it themselves.
— What this is
Two surfaces, one working index.
The idea is simple: keep a working list of places that are actually worth visiting, and keep a matching library of notes — guides, primers, short reports — that make those places easier to understand.
Everything here is reviewed by hand. Submissions from readers are welcome, but nothing is published until an editor has looked at it. Auto-scraped listings and machine-generated notes have no place in the archive.
The site does not sell placement, does not run sponsored records, and does not accept payment for inclusion. If a record is here, it is here because someone thought it was worth being here.
— How it runs
Three standards that don't bend.
Every record is checked by hand.
Records go through an editor before they are published. Details that read wrong get corrected. Records that stop being true get retired.
Notes are versioned files, not blog posts.
Field notes are downloadable files with a filename, a size, and an updated date. The one you download today is the current one.
Places and notes stay linked.
A record for a place carries the notes that reference it. A note points back to the places it covers. Neither surface is an island.
The archive is small on purpose. Every entry earns its slot.
